Description:

A - Walking excursion in Funchal & wine tasting (3h)

With this cultural and historical circuit in the city of Funchal, you can discover the rich material and immaterial heritage of the city and find out how the monuments and their occupants helped to shape Madeiran society. Find out the heritage of Madeira wine as you explore the art of barrel - making, the vinification and ageing process. Your walk culminates in a wine tasting experience in an old wine cellar.

 

B - Santa Maria carrack, sea outing (3h)

In the replica of Christopher Columbus’s ‘Santa Maria’ you will have a 15th century sailing experience. It sets course for the highest promontory in Europe 580m (Cabo Girão). Going along Madeira’s southern coast, it is  most probable to see dolphins and whales. There will also be the opportunity for a swim in the sea!

C - Levada Referta – Catelejo, mountain outing (3h)

This walk is a journey along centuries-old footpaths, carefully carved by those who once relied on them for passage through this rugged yet breathtaking landscape. The land tells the story of resilience and tradition, here local farmers tend to their crops on intricate terrace fields. It has spectacular views of the North Coast where harming villages nestle between rolling hills and the vast expanse of the Atlantic Ocean.
